GMA7 WELCOMES HEART EVANGELISTA

Heart Evangelista (pretty as ever) was featured in Showbiz Central. She was welcome by Richard Guttierez and other Kapuso artists. They will do a soap opera together. They look really good as a pair. I love Heart and i hope her transfer to GMA7 will get her the attention she needs. Videos of the interview are available below.

PINOY IDOL - METRO MANILA AUDITION

This week, Pinoy Idol is set for Metro Manila. As usual, big crowd is expected. As early as 4:00 am an estimated 5,000 people were waiting outside the venue and at 6:oo am the audition started with more than 15,000 aspiring singers. Jolina Magdangal was not present, it was Ms. Ida Henares (Head for GMA Artist Center) who took Jolina's place, which i think is way better than Jolina. Wyngard Tracy sounded too Simon and Ogie Alcasid was boring this week. Speaking of boredom, this week's edition was so boring and was a disappointment. Just few of them were impressive and promising. I don't even remember highlights of this week's episode except for one from Batangas, a 17 year old Carol Anne Leus. Got the voice quality and the voice control. I hope to see her in the finals. Next week, the excitement begins as 175 contestants battle it out in the elimination round. Videos are available below.

JERICHO ROSALES - JERICHO ALBUM RETAIL

One of Philippines sought-after actors and now one of Philippines music’s finest performers is back with a brand new album. Jericho Rosales is releasing his self-titled album with its kick-off single "Paglisan", produced by EMI Phils. Self-titled album "Jericho" boasts the new single "Paglisan" which was once a hit-topping song of the charts as #1 at Yes FM and strongly getting airplay on other stations. “Paglisan” is a remake of 90s band Color It Red. The new album includes four of OPM hit songs with Rosales’own rendition of Sharon Cuneta’s powerful "Pangarap na Bituin" (also from the drama series of the same title); to Tito Mina’s funky "Ikaw Pa Rin" as Rosales himself describes as funny but romantic song; to remake of Joshua Kadison’s hit "Beautiful In My Eyes" with Rosales’ dreamy voice. To complete this 8-track album, four of his original compositions culled from Rosales’ Jeans debut album are "Ngayong Gabi", "Tuwing Nakikita Ka", "Coming Out" and "Kasama Ka".

After proving his quest for a new career in singing, Rosales started with his band called Jeans and produced his first solo album "Loose Fit" also dominated the airwaves with Rosales’ own compositions. Loose Fit was released by EMI Malaysia in August 2006 and was distributed in the Philippines in 2007 by EMI Philippines.

"Singing changed my career so much. One or two years from now I’m gonna be acting again and will probably be active doing both… right now I just need to establish things properly. I got to be prepared in anything I wanna do but God is good and his timing is perfect. Singing, on the other hand, has defined my career very well. And it showed me where to go and what I wanna do" Rosales shared.

Jericho Rosales’ self-titled album under EMI Philippines is now available in all records bars.

2. Pangarap Na Bituin
3. Beautiful In My Eyes
4. Ikaw Pa Rin

GMA ARTIST CENTER ID PLUG

This is the new id plug of GMA's Artist Center. I was looking forward to this ID plug and when it premiered this afternoon over at SOP i felt a little bit disappointed. It was okay, but i was not impressed. GMA was boasting this plug for a week now and i am expecting like super special and extraordinary plug. It was like watching a fashion show video with "Please Don't Stop The Music" as the background music. It was good but it was not the best. Check the video below.

PINOY IDOL: PAMPANGA, BATANGAS & DAGUPAN AUDITIONS

This week Pinoy Idol goes to Luzon. First stop was Clark Pampanga, there were many hopefuls but one memorable audition was from Meryl Consulta David who came from a prominent showbiz clan. She sang "Fallin'" from Alicia Keys and i have to agree she is one to look forward to. Check the video below.

There were those ladies who were called "Tres Marias" because they were contenders before in another singing contest. The girls are belters. They could reach high notes. And a shocking audition piece made by John Paul Villaluz. I was so scared watching him singing. Check the video below.

From Pampanga, Pinoy Idol second stop is Batangas. Noticeable auditions came from Lorenzo/Jara Valido, a transvestite who has voice like a real woman and Penelope Ann Matanguihan who amazes the judges in her heartwarming version of "Amazing Grace". The girl is just 16 years old and she can sing well. Her voice is clean, words are so clear and she was singing like an angel. I am looking forward to see her in the finals.

Lorenzo/Jara Valido sings "Natutulog Ba Ang Diyos"

Penelope Ann Matanguiha sings "Amazing Grace"

Last stop is Dagupan, a lot of hopefuls but Don Benito Manuel Sanchez, a theater actor/singer and Anthony Limjoco, a fil-am who came here in the Philippines to audition were the one who stand out.

Next week, Pinoy Idol is ready for Mega Manila. Can't wait to see familiar faces.

FREESTYLE - BACK AT THE YARD ALBUM RETAIL

In June 2006, the group released “Freestyle Live @ 19East,” which was certified platinum. Late last year, Freestyle came out with its latest album “Back at the Yard,” their 10th release and their fifth studio album of original songs. Produced at the backyard studio of drummer Gerard Banzon, hence the title, the album contains 16 tracks, with 13 original tunes written by Mike, Joshua, Jinky Vidal and newest member Rommel dela Cruz.
